My friends birthday was a few weeks ago and her son really wanted to get her something very special.
He loves his Mom and knew how much she had admired a winter coat at Macy's. He thought if he prayed very hard, perhaps God would answer.
So for three weeks he prayed and prayed, but nothing happened.
The boy decided maybe too many people were praying and God couldn't hear him. So he dicided to write God a letter explaining the need for $100.00.
When authorities at the post office received a letter addressed to God, USA, they decided to send it to the President.
The President was very taken by the boy's letter
and asked his secretary to send the boy a five dollar bill. The President thought this would seem like a lot of money to the youngster.
The President was right. The little boy was pleased with the $5.00 bill, even though it wasn't enough for his Mom's new coat.
Knowing how important good manners are, the boy sat down to write a thank you note to God. This is what it said:
"Dear God, thank you very much for the gift. It will be a great help. I noticed you sent the money through Washington, DC and wanted you to know the government people there took $95 in taxes!"

Laura, thank you for your the laughter. Very genius and original. I have never heard this joke before.

This is so funny! Thanks for the laugh.
Laura, that was a good one, thanks for sharing this morning. LOL

Hey, Laura. That is awesome, I love political humor. Have an awesome weekend, Jim
I really liked that one. I don't think I have ever heard it before. It's the truth and I guess it is good kids learn it early! LOL
Always the way isn't it!!! Thanks for the chuckle
Laura, I think you hit the nail on the head. Had the Government given the boy his stimulus package of $100. He would have spent it in the United states. But instead it would appear to the youngster that Congress is still debating where the other 95% should go. Steve
And that is unfortunately about the size of it.
Got a chuckle out of that one, Thanks for sharing
I would love to tell the kid he is lucky they only took $95 out of $100. The rate our Fed Govt. is spending money like water, they are more likely to send him a bill. Poor kid. Thanks for the laugh.
Hi Laura:
LOL...
That was funny, thanks for the laugh, as always!
Enjoy your week.
Laura....That's was funny, and most likely true after this stimulus junk dies down.
Laura,
As usual your sense of humor makes me smile! Thanks for the laugh...
Ted
That's hysterical......and at the same time, sadly true!!!
Well, it doesn't surprise me at all that the government kept the majority of the money. :)
Thanks for the chuckle.
haha - this was a good one Laura. Thanks for the laugh (although - when you think about it - it is oh so true...and sad actually :( .....ugh taxes, lol)
We lucked out and didn't get the snow they predicted....but I have a feeling y'all weren't so lucky.
LAURA: Out of the mouths of babes! So true, he was lucky he received $5.00.
