Manahawkin, Tree City USA!

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP’s ADOPT A TREE PROGRAM

Manahawkin, NJManahawkin, NJ (Stafford Township) has been a member of the Tree City USA® program for 19 years. The program provides direction, assistance, attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities that more than 120 million Americans call home.

New Jersey has more than 500 municipalities and only 148 have this designation, sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.

A tree is a gift of life and beauty that will bloom withFall brilliance each and every year and can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Trees can be purchased in honor or memory of someone or just to help beautify the township's parks.

An individual plaque naming the donor, memorial or statement of your choice will be placed at each tree. The cost is determined by tree type and size. You can call 609-597-1000 ext 8559 for more info.

If you are interested in doing something to better the community and the environment, there’s an application below.

Laura,

This is a great way to get the community involved and provide some lasting improvements at the same time. :)

My city of La Mesa has been a Tree City member for 28 years. There are not very many cities that have been a member longer than that. I think Sacramento has been but that's the only one I can remember.

New Jersy only has 500 municipalities? I think San Diego County has 500 municipalities, and they all see to be working off of different real estate codes. LOL

Thank you Laura, just printed it up for my husband. Without you, I would never have learned the area so quickly....so many neat things down there....who would have thought.
