Wave to the NJ Bicyclists...NJ to Oregon

Two New Jersey residents from Monmouth County started a cross country bicycle trek to raise money for the family of a friend who recently passed away.  They started yesterday Ocean Grove and won't stop til they reach the Pacific Ocean.

They are raising money for a friend, Alfred (Alfie) Orlando, who died June 30th at the age of 37.  He left behind three young children and  a wife.

Bicyclists Scott Porbansky and Kyle Rogers met Orlando when they all worked at a bike shop in Shrewsbury.  When he was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer several months ago, Porbansky and Rogers decided to turn their dream of pedaling cross country into a fund raiser for Orlando and his family.

To check out their progress or donate you can check the Pedaling for Alfie Blog.  There should be periodic updates!

So as these men pedal west...give a wave to some crazy guys from NJ!

THEY'VE GOT BIG HEARTS AND GENEROUS SPIRITS!

omg - that poor young family....     kudos to Scott and Kyle for what they are doing.      (I wonder why they chose Oregon...... did you know that NJ and OR are the ONLY two states that DO NOT have self-service gas stations?)

Morning Laura,

My heart goes out to the surviving family. To experience such a loss at their young ages is very difficult.

Keep us posted in the cyclist and their progress. Thanks.

Laura,

That's a great effort that Alfie's friends have undertaken for his memory and the well-being of his family.
