: Take Your Dog To Work Day!

Take Your Dog To Work Day!

This Friday, June 20, is Take Your Dog to Work Day. It's annual event, first organized by Pet Sitters International ten years ago, and aims to recognize the great companions that dogs make.

Did you know that roughly 1 out of every 5 businesses allows pets at work, that's according to a survey by the American Pet Product Manufacturers Association.

There are some guidelines that the ASPCA has come up with to make your office more pet friendly.  So if you're taking pooch to the office tomorrow, today you might want to try taping up loose electrical cords and wires, putting markers and other toxic-but-tempting office supplies away in drawers, and removing plants, rugs and breakables.

Try to pack a doggie bag with treats, food and water bowls, a leash, pick up bags and maybe a blanket or toy your dog is fond of.  Don't forget the paper towels and a pet oder remover, just in case.  Take out your trash, so the tempting smell of that empty lunch bag doesn't get your puppy into trouble.

If you'd like to be better prepared for your dog at the office, check out good manners for dogs at the office from the ASPCA.

What a great day for the dogs.  I hope that people take advantage of this and that business allow the pooches to visit!  Some dogs are actually working tomorrow as well.  They add so much to everyone's life.

I'm with Fernando...  I'm all the dog I need these days...  In fact, I am thinking about buying myself a leash.  My wife would certainly appreciate it!

My dog has enough to do chasing the birds off the deck and watching the clouds roll by.

I love my yellow lab Daisy but take her to work, no way! I wish I could lounge around all day!

Pretty cool, now which dog should I take?  Wish I just had a few days like they do - chasing birds and taking naps all day.

I would love to take one of my dogs to work with me...Between my officemate's sneezing and wheezing he informed me that I shouldn't because he would die from an allergic reaction...I don't like this roommate much anyway...

Tarrytown is having a "dog Parade" tomorrow evening and I'm going with Jade and Tundra.  Can't wait!  Should be fun and I'll take photos.  They aren't skweaky clean like they were in some of my other photo displays of them, but that's life. I wont' have time to bathe them in advance....

Thanks for letting me know about this. Beaux (my standard Schnauzer) often comes to work with me when I have phone duty. Sometimes the phones are quiet and it gives us time to play and or watch a movie. I will bring him this afternoon!!
