: Friends of the Barnegat Library Present Eleanor Roosevelt

Friends of the Barnegat Library Present Eleanor Roosevelt

The Friends of the Ocean County Library, Barnegat Branch, is celebrating Women’s History Month on March 8th, with Rene Goodwin’s first person interpretation of Eleanor Roosevelt.

Rene GoodwinGoodwin, of the American Historical Theater in Philadelphia, has developed an interpretation covering Roosevelt’s first 55 years.  It’s a story of the first lady’s life, filled with first hand involvement in fascinating historic events.

Eleanor Roosevelt was not only the wife of the 31st President; she was a stateswoman, and a tireless advocate of women’s and children’s rights.

The Eleanor Roosevelt program is scheduled on March 8th at 6:30 pm in the Meeting Room of the Barnegat Library, 112 Burr Street in Barnegat.

Admission is free, but pre registration is requested.  Register online for the Friends of the Barnegat Library program, or stop by the Library.

The mission of the Friends of the Library, Barnegat Branch is to create public interest in the library, fostering public support for the Barnegat Library, and to help the Library’s endeavors to meet the needs of the community.

THIS PROGRAM IS OFFERED THROUGH THE HORIZONS SPEAKERS BUREAU OF THE NEW JERSEY COUNCIL FOR THE HUMANITIES, A STATE PARTNER OF THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES.

Love her or hate her, she was dynamic and a role model for the modern woman.

Sounds fun Laura. We are regularly visited here by Teddy Roosevelt as he used to live and visit Western ND. Not sure who plays the part but he is very good.

I would so love to be there!  You may not know this, but Pine Knoll Shores is located in the Roosevelt Natural Preserve...Eleanor Roosevelt plays a huge role in what our area is today, and the history is very strong here :0)

Sounds like a great event, Laura!  I love history, and I would really enjoy attending this, if it were closer to home.

Laura...that program does sound very interesting; love the actor[s] that play the parts as they can be very convincing.  March already [well, 5 days hence] does not seem possible.  Must have had fun so far, as the days are flying by quickly.  did I have fun?  Who knows, at least i can sit here, type to a fun Rainer, enjoy the moment & will worry about the fun part later.  Time waits for no one--that's OK.
Have a great Friday & a fun weekend.  {Sal just called down to me that "YOU have one hour"] He torments me with "Selling New York" on HGTV; he does so because he knows that I do not like that show.  No problem, he will show up around 9:35 pm and TELL me ALL ABOUT that show. 'Happy, Happy--Joy, Joy'  LOL

Hi Laura:

She was one amazing woman...way ahead of her time!

Her quotes are legendary.

Laura - I am a huge fan of Eleanor Roosevelt and some of my favorite quotes come for her. I'm paraphrasing but she said something to the effect: Do the thing you fear the most, that is how you conquer fear. I live by that philosophy because deep down inside anything new always scares me a little, sometimes even a lot!

Myrl-The American Theater in Philadephia has a lot of this first person programs.

Barb-Tell Sal to simmer down...I don't like those shows on HGTV and Bravo either!

Toula-You're so right!

Kristine-Scared or not, you go for it...I admire that!
