More Money to Assist NJ's Unemployed Avoid Foreclosure

Just weeks after the New Jersey Housing an Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA) announced a $112 million foreclosure prevention program for the state's under employed and the unemployed, the federal government has more than doubled the amount of assistance available.

The New Jersey Homekeeper Program (NJHK) will get underway in January.  After the HMFA adopts the rules and regs to administer the NJ foreclosure prevention program, $300 million will now be available to New Jersey's unemployed homeowners facing foreclosure.  While applications for participation in the New Jersey foreclosure prevention program won't be available until later in the year, general New Jersey Homekeeper Program guidelines are available.

The New Jersey foreclosure prevention program will be administered by the NJ HMFA.

Laura...is this really a good thing?  I have mixed feelings about it but do not have any first hand experience with it.
