Enjoy Memorial Day, make it safe and enjoyable. But let's not forget the real meaning of Memorial Day.
It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN who salutes the Flag, and it is the VETERAN who serves under the Flag.

Laura, Thank you for a timely post. Have a good Memorial Day holiday.
Laura, excellent post and great reminders. Sometimes I think we get all caught up in the festivities on this holiday weekend and don't take the time to think about what we are really celebrating.
My thoughts and prayers are the the Veterans today. Thanks Laura, and have a great weekend.
Laura - thank you for an excellent post and remembering our fallen heros.
Our thoughts and prayers are focused today on those who have, are and will serve the country that gives us the freedoms we enjoy every day...thank you for the reminder.
Beautifully written Laura. Hopefully we can all take a moment out of the day to remember those who have sacrificed so that we may enjoy our freedoms.
Totally agree....we forget that these men and woman LOST their lives for our Freedom.
Laura, these thought really put the truth of what our country stands for in a meaningful perspective, thanks for the great post.
Laura...This is so true and most people don't even consider the real reason we have our freedoms.
Laura...So very well said. People who think it's our constitution that gives all the right are only part right!
Hope you had a great Memorial Day with lots of fun and food with family and friends.
Dear Laura,
Vets make our lives possible. We should thank a vet every day we get out of bed to live another day.
