I'm a big 'Discovery Channel' fan. I love all those documentaries about animals. But after watching a recent program on Antarctica, I wondered how come there were no dead penguins. Where do they go?
Well I did some research, so we need wonder no more.
It's a fact that the penguin lives an extremely ordered life. The penguin is also committed to its family and will mate for life. It also maintains a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.
So, if a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice. They use their little tiny wings and beaks until the hole is deep enough. They roll the dead bird into the hole and then they cover it.
Then male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing this song: “Freeze a jolly good fellow.”

Laura...thanks for the lesson in loyally, you would find me on an ice flow unless that's where they keep the beer...I'll sing for that!
LOL That's hilarious. Poor penguins ... if only they knew the things we say about them. :)
You were spot on until the hilarious end! Thanks for the frozen giggle! Brrrr!
;)
The penguins really are some amazing creatures aren't they. Such tradition and powerful singing voices.
LOL...had to read it twice, but still very cute. Have a good evening Laura.
Hi Laura:
Penguins are the best!
I didn't know that they can sing? :)
Have a great day.
Dear Laura,
It has almost been a month since you posted. I hope you are ok and not rolled into a hole in the ice. Give me a call or something lady. I am starting to worry about you.
;)
