Jersey Shore Views...

If you’re headed to the Jersey Shore this weekend via the Garden State Parkway expect some delays from the Toms River exits (82) through the Manahawkin/Long Beach Island exit (63) ending just before the Little Egg Harbor/Tuckerton exit.

Though crews won’t be working over the holiday weekend, the Parkway’s widening has caused lane shifts which always cause problems, and those not familiar with the work seem inclined to slow down and check it out!

Hopefully, the 2011 summer season won’t be plagued with these problems, at least not in the same areas.  Widening the Parkway between Exits 82 and 63 should be completed, but will start up further south.

If you’d like to check out the traffic before you leave north Jersey for the Jersey Shore, the NJ Turnpike Authority has made available to the public more vantage points, 79 live camera shots from the Turnpike and 70 live camera shots on the Parkway!

The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium/New Jersey Sea Grant is an affiliation of colleges, universities and other groups dedicated to advancing knowledge and stewardship of New Jersey’s marine and coastal environment. NJMSC/NJSG meets its mission through its innovative research, education and outreach programs.

Homes for sale in Little Egg Harbor - Little Egg Harbor, NJ April 2010 Housing Market Report

Homes for sale in Little Egg Harbor averaged at about 450 residential units  in April, 2010, up slightly from the Little Egg Harbor Housing Market Report in March, 2010.  All in all very little changed with the homes for sale in Little Egg Harbor last month, save the median home price inched up by about $3000.

The anticipated surge in homes going under contract with expiration of the federal home buyer’s tax credit never materialized.

 And while homes in Little Egg Harbor sale prices dropped over the same period one year ago, days on the market also dropped.

Homes For Sale in Tuckerton - Tuckerton, NJ April, 2010 Housing Market Report

The number of homes for sale in Tuckerton averaged 75 during the month of April, up slightly over the March, 2010 Homes for Sale in Tuckerton Report. And more homes sold in Tuckerton last month, than any month this year!  More good news…the number of days on the market has also decreased over last month, but it remains higher than April 2009.  

Compare this to the homes for sale in Tuckerton report from just one year ago.  It doesn't appear the home buyers tax credit had much effect on the Tuckerton housing market!

It’s a great time to buy a home in Tuckerton.  

 Of the homes sold in April, 2010, none were short sales or bank owned homes in Tuckerton, according to the Jersey Shore Multiple Listing Service.

Two were Tuckerton condos, 1 a renovated 1900’s Tuckerton home in the Village Commercial area, and 1 a Tuckerton waterfront home.

Homes for sale in Manahawkin averaged at about 470 during April, 2010 up by 20 from the March, 2010 Manahawkin Housing Market Report.

There wasn’t a substantial increase in the number of homes in Manahawkin going under contract in April, in fact more homes in Manahawkin went under contract in March.  The prices of homes in sold Manahawkin continued to decrease in April.

Homes for sale in Barnegat averaged 319 in April, 2010 down slightly from the March, 2010 Housing Market Report figure.  The homes for sale in Barnegat going under contract in April increased substantially (10 units) over March, 2010.

Good news compared to the Barnegat Housing Market Report for April, 2009.

Ocean County residents are you wondering what to do about clean-up, repair and replacement after the March, 2010 non-stop down pour.

Help is available!  Ocean County has been added to the list for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Authority) and the NJ Office of Emergency Management assitance.

The office opens tomorrow in Brick…the disaster recovery center for Ocean County opens tomorrow (May 14^th).  The location is the Brick Township Civic Center, located at 270 Chambersbridge Road in Brick.  It’s in Suite 11.

If you have property damage from flooding, or damage to personal property you are encouraged to apply. 

To make things easier please register with FEMA before visiting the Center.  To do that call 800-621-FEMA.

A man suffered a serious heart attack and had emergency open heart surgery.  

He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at a Catholic Hospital. 

As he was recovering, a nun asked him questions regarding how he was going to pay for his treatment.

She asked, “Do you have health insurance?”

He replied in a raspy voice, “No health insurance.”

The nun asked, “Do you have money in the bank?”

He replied, “No money in the bank.”

The nun asked, “Do you have a relative who could help you?”

He said, “I only have a spinster sister, who is a nun.”

The nun became visibly agitated and announced loudly, “Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns are married to God.”

The patient replied, “Then send the bill to my brother-in-law.”
